German E. Coli UPDATE! The cucumbers are attacking

The death toll is up to 17 in the German cucumber E. coli outbreak!!! The German national health agency is reporting that over 1,500 people have already been infected by the E. coli and that the number is going to keep growing.
The rare strain of E. coli, which has been found in Spanish cucumbers in Germany, is causing, “hemolytic uremic syndrome, which attacks the kidneys and can cause seizures, strokes and comas.” That does not sound good at all.
Professor Paul Hunter from the University of East Anglia in England had this to say about he outbreak, “There may well be a great number of asymptomatic cases out there that we’re missing. This could be a much bigger outbreak than we realize right now. There might also be something genetically different about this particular strain of E. coli that makes it more virulent.”
Researchers are also saying that they might never know the exact reason for the outbreak because it may be too difficult to trace back to an exact farm or area that supplied the cucumbers.
On Thursday the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the E. coli is, “A new bacteria that has never been seen before.”
Craziness.

No new iPhone until at least Sept. 2011 or maybe 2012?

There is new news out from several sources saying that the new iPhone 5, which is commonly expected to be coming out in June/July like all previous iPhones have, is now expected to come out at the earliest in September 2011 and may not even come out until 2012. This would break would the normal iPhone update cycle, but makes a little more sense given that the Verizon iPhone was only just announced.
Apple reportedly will be focusing the Worldwide Developers Conference in June (where the iPhone is typically announced) on iOS and Mac OS software, rather than hardware.
BEAKING NEWS: IBM’s Watson going to take over the world; dominates Jeopardy

Run for the hills, Watson is kicking ass and taking names. Tonight I saw what was, arguably the biggest shellacking ever in game-show history, winning $35,734 on Jeopardy! Next step for the computer super-giant… to take over the world, im sure. We should talk to Jamie Foxx about how to beat the machine (referring to his Oscar snubbed role in the movie Stealth). Nonetheless, I am impressed with mankind’s achievements and can’t wait to see what is in store for the future…
